Title:
Pvt. Kenichi Kawakami is learning weaving from a fellow patient. Working with the loom will help to strengthen his shoulder
which was badly injured by shrapnel fragments when he was fighting in Italy with the 100th Battalion. Pvt. Kawakami was inducted
into the army in November 1941, in Hawaii, and was stationed at Schofield Barracks at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack.
As are many of the other wounded Nisei, he is anxious to rejoin his outfit if he has the assurance that he is physically fit
and will not be hampered by the wound in his shoulder. --
