The Yamasaki family from Granada Relocation Center pose for their picture. From left to right, standing in back, Edith, Jim, Mr. Harumi Yamasaki, and Nobu; front row, Yori, Masako Kiyoi and her 2-1/2 week old son, Michael, Patricia Kiyoi, and Mrs. Yamasaki. They represent three generations, including Issei, Nisei, and Sansei. Mr. and Mrs. Yamasaki relocated in the spring of 1944, after the daughters, Nobu and Miya (not in picture), who had been working at the University of Maryland, had located farm work and a home for their parents on the farm of Edward Barron at Seabrook, Maryland, near Washington, D.C., Edith and Jim are now attending school; Yori is taking her nurse's training at a Baltimore hospital; Mrs. Kiyoi lives in New Jersey where her husband is working on the Seabrook Farms. Other members of the family not able to be present for the picture include Miye, working as a soil analyst at the University of Maryland, Ada, and Harold, who is in the U.S. Army. The family lived formerly in Modesto, California, where Mr. Yamasaki raised vegetables.
