Cuba - Province of Havana - Havana: On Havana's Malecon, the broad boulevard which runs long the city's waterfront on the
gulf of Mexico, stands the Maine monument in memory of the heroes of the dastardly sinking of the U.S. Battleship Maine which
went to Cuba for a visit. The Spaniards sank the ship, blowing up the vessel without warning, thus touching off the fuse which
ignited the Spanish American War of 1898.
