W. view of Mission Capistrano adobe, 1936. Small windows with bars on them are visible in the adobe structure as well as the roof and an enclosing wall on the right. The Mission was founded in 1776 with a large spurt in building occurring in 1794. Walls were made of adobe, roofs of heavy tile and floors of "mission" tile or packed earth.
